I was given a huge brass Buddha. It didn't take much for me to realize this was a thoughtful gift and it has been with me ever since. A fried gave me a cactus. I put it in my kitchen window. After pricking my finger on it a couple times, I threw it out. Maybe a cactus is pretty in a barren desert, but anywhere else, it is a dangerous stark reminder of dearth. Dry barren lands. I should have tossed it before it stuck me the first time.
