Their connection to Odin is not just a myth. They were literally dedicated to him, and the evidence can be found on Torslunda plates discovered in Sweden. Them wearing bear or wolf skin also served as a heads-up for their fellow warriors that they should keep their distance during battle, because their rage was so extreme that they literally could not differentiate friend from foe. The bear and wolf skins were chosen not just because those animals are capable of mauling people, but also because Odin is known as a shapeshifter (not to the same purpose like Loki, who uses his skills to spread disorder) and wolves and bears were two of his favorite forms in which he represents himself to humans. Berserkers wore bear skins, while wolf-skinned iteration were called Ulfheðnar and who possibly inspired the myth of werewolves. There is a theory that their rage is induced by consumption of henbane, a plant that causes hallucinations and mood changes.

Berzerkers mainly Celtic and Norse berzerkers all associated themselves with a God. Celtic pagans had a god of their own they wore a blue war paint called "Woad" and they would rely on the paint for protection I don't know who their God was that they relied on in battle. But While Norse berzerkers who had bear skin as their Armor always went to battle venerating and glorifying Odin. Berzerkers of a specific tribe relied on a war God
