At this point, Damon Albarn's voice is more of a comfort food than soup. Been thinking that more and more ever since seeing The Gorillaz live. There's something about Blur's first album that never gets old. There are parts of the day where I just blurt out, "she said there's ants in the carpet..." No one ever has the slightest clue what I'm talking about because most of what comes out of my mouth are song lyrics from the unfinished bittersweet symphony that is forever going on in my head. (See what I did there, blurred 2 songs together, kind of verved into a massive attack.)

I never used to like this song as much as I do now, until they started closing their live sets with it. It’s an insane way to end a massive festival gig or whatever, with tens of thousands of people singing along - “these days they seem to fall through us, WELL JUST LET THEM GO” 😢😢

Blur has such amazing and unique songs. I know they're just blandly considered britpop but tbh I don't think a song like this should at all be categorised as such. So many of their songs are filled with unique instruments, unusual chord progressions and yet are unbelievably beautiful and often extremely catchy and memorable.
