PS5 Slim HDMI Port Replacement

In this video I will show you how to replace a PS5 Slim HDMI port. This repair requires a hot air rework station as well as a soldering iron with sufficient wattage. It is not recommended for beginners. Please practice on a game console that you don't care about first as permanent damage can result from using improper equipment/technique.

PlayStation needs to get into a massive MASSIVE lawsuit because of how low quality their products are ( I might as well sell my ps5 and go back to a ps4 since it’s higher quality and cheaper to fix hdmi port which is £20-£40 and ps5 is £60-£70 which is too much )

What are the solder points for that have no trace on them. Ex at 10:55, the 5th from the right? If I had to jump that where do I jump it to. Thanks

Great video!!! Thanks a lot for all ur tips, really helped a lot. I did have to use leaded solder to remove the hdmi port as my heating statition isn't nearly as good as urs.

The only thing i dont like about the drop method is the amount of heat you need to keep soaked into the board. Ive got it honed in now for the ps5 and xbox boards . Come out so clean now. “I add a ton of leaded solder on top ports so when you push it though, most the leaded can be wicked away from the bottom of board. I have a good method for cleaning the holes, but dont bother anymore now.

Nice video. I hot swop its easier and faster. i used to use this method but found it not necessary to go through the trouble of cleaning out the anchor holes. great job though. Im still waiting for a slim to turn up at my shop all i get is the original ones...but loads of them. I probably see 1 series x to 50 PS5 for hdmi port replacements.

Quick question, is mandatory to replace the Liquid Metal for the CPU? Or you can just remove and put everything together? Will this be like the same as re applying new liquid ?

when you’re getting the solder out of the hdmi holes are you having the board set up side ways? flat? or what

Can I ask why you chose to go with a soldering tweezer and solder instead of solder paste and hot air?

I am doing a PS5 HDMI port repair myself. This unit had fallen off of a desk and the HDMI port was damaged. I found it to be a pain in tge ass to try to use my soldering iron to remove the port, so i myself used hot air. And cleaned terminals in pcb with solder wic just as you did.
Great job! Now i just need to wait for my HDMI port to arrive in the mail.

Are the 4 legs of the new port supposed to go all the way through the board? I don’t think mine have holes.
