According to Robert Reich, the rise in productivity and loss of jobs as a result of AI will require a universal basic income response.

"People have got to have enough money in their pockets to buy all the things that the new economy is capable of producing."

This guy is right but we could see a shift to a 4 shift work week before we go to a UBI because short term AGI will not be in every industry and it will need to be managed and fixed if broken so it would make sense to go to a 32 hour work week now vs waiting tell it would do little good and we would have to go to a UBI almost right after that if we waited to long. hate to say it but Bernie Sanders is 100% right on this one the thing to do is implement it slowly over 4 years. it should solve some of the homelessness problem and save lots of people from falling into extreme poverty with a UbI but that only really delays the inevitable things could go really well for about 10 to 20 years after that but its safe to say buy the time 20 years have past buy from the time of going to 32 hour work week the working class would be in the same if not worse position as today meaning the AGI would be able to fix itself and all you really would need are managers and very few engineers and software engineers just to try and keep up with things if the worst should happen for what ever reason and all of that is just for safety sake so if the AGI went down or we had to shut it down in some factory's these people could get it back running or if it was going to take to long could start hiring temporary workers while it slowly gets fixed in this scenario UBI is almost mandatory because in every industry things will be ran that way meaning there is almost no way around it. its funny but the poor and low end middle class will be on a UBI only and the upper middle class and the low end rich will be on the temporary workers team and the high end rich will be working 6 hours a day 5 days out of the week and the crazy rich will have it all. with very little difference between the classes other than the kind of cars they can buy or the kind of homes they can build. think of it this way things the AGI can't do will be owned by the rich and everything else will be owned by everyone else. it will be hard to call that kind of world a Utopia or a cyber dystopia and to that I say it will depend on full dive VR and peoples willingness not to over indulge in full dive vr witch will depend on the UBI if its full support UBI we could see another baby boom meaning it lets you see the world and go places and live every where when ever you want to but on the other hand if its a barebones UBI it will lead to a population decline or civil unrest because just enough for food and no Mobility is a recipe for population collapse. talk about the world's greatest Balancing Act

Okay but who decides what amount of money is UBI? People used to living a middle or upper class life style are not going accept losing their jobs to an AI and being forced on a welfare. Either insure the sum gives everyone an upper-middle class life style choice or do not bother.

Ubi, hmm maybe if it was some kind of investment to companies taxes or something, so everyone rich and poor can receive a even monthly pay, everything like governments, banks, people, companies, environmental health, everything could stay the same and competition growth would speak for itself. Bring on robots and world Analysis systems with the people choices, governments, banks, everything.

think about it this way.. who does it help? displaced/replaced workers, single parents, families in reproductive age, disability, childbearing women - one of the largest group of individuals who would benefit from #UBI. It is required

UBI based on welfare is far too costly and unmanageable. It will be an unbearable weight on economic growth. I believe there is a simple, task based UIO (universal income opportunity) that can answer the fears of the growth of AI. To me it really is child's play, but my model needs to be tested to see how it stands up. I have carried this idea in my head for more than ten years, and dabbled in how I might implement it. One of my early fears was, what would happen to the workforce? What if no one wanted to work anymore? Seeing how government handouts have partly been responsible for labor shortages in Australia I don't believe my fears are unfounded. It would have to be managed and that brings another fear, managers making poor decisions for greater personal gain would destroy its effectiveness. I see this as its greatest weakness because I know the thoughts of mankind.
