Too Weak To Break The Grip Off?

As a bit of a follow up to our previous video on breaking the lapel grip off, we thought we'd look at what to do to gain some advantage when, no matter how much you try, you're simply unable to break that pesky grip off.

As a rule of thumb, I usually advise people to try to break a grip off twice and if you're unsuccessful then move on...now that does not mean to simply accept your fate and submit to your opponent, all it means it not to become too focused on the grip as this can leave you in a vulnerable position, but instead to try out a different tactic to gain a gripping advantage.

In this video, Rob looks at a way to manipulate the Judogi to create space and end up in a stronger position if you are being dominated on the lapel and you've been unable to physically break it off!

Give it a try next time you're doing randori!!
