Details: Lot 2068 "American Flamingo," (Phoenicopterus ruber), Old Male, Havell Double Elephant Folio, chromolithograph by Bien, New York, 1860, in a Hogarth style frame, acid free French-ruled mat, glazed, OS: 46 1/2" x 34 3/4", SS: 35" x 24", Image Size : 32 5/8" x 23 1/4", Sheet Size: 39 1/2" x 26 3/8". Toned. Unmounted, museum hinged. Painted by Audubon in London in 1837 from a specimen sent by Rev. John Bachman of Charleston SC.
