Rolling Stone was Wrong! Tears of the Kingdom is Bigger and Better!
Показать описание
Rolling Stone wrote an article deciding what the top 50 Best Games of All Time are and here is the link.
There are a lot of games that could have (and should have) made this list and others that shouldn't be anywhere near to the same quality, but the thing I want to talk about most here is the game at the number one spot. Breath of the Wild. Its a great game and it absolutely deserves to be on this list, however Tears of the Kingdom is better. Totk takes everything from Breath of the Wild and improves upon them. Most of the same stuff is in totk but there are two vast regions to explore that were not present in Breath of the Wild. The underground and the floating islands in the sky. This doubles the size of the previous game, an experience you can dump hundreds of hours into. All of the Amiibo bonus cloths from the previous game are obtainable in exploration so you don't have to have a min fig collection to enjoy everything. The characters are more interesting. The villains are more dangerous. The tone of the game is a bit dark and the story plays out like a Greek tragedy. You can combine objects to make crazy tools, weapons and vehicles. There's just more to do in this game.
Going back to the article, I don't understand how they put Batman: Arkham City on this List rather than Batman: Arkham Asylum if we are going to split hairs over what is a better game. The original God of War wasn't on here and that had a massive impact on the gaming industry when it came out. Metal Gear Solid is on the list but not MGS 3 Snake Eater? The one that's been remade more often than the others and anyone whose played Elden Ring and found a tall ladder has probably seen someone's message that reads "snake!" on the ground. That's because of MGS 3.
My point in saying this, gaming journalism is stilted, especially in big media outlets. This article could be a big add for the games these companies are continuing to push. The gaming industry is buoyed by remakes and remasters. I'm tired of it. Stop making the same thing over and over. I don't mind that we return to the same world as in totk and botw or gta 3 and 4 for example. Give me a new story!
