I can already see this being just a big marketing series for BIAS. Not that I don't enjoy the concept, and I'm looking forward to the other instalments, but it's clear that from the get go this was more or less an excuse to advertise BIAS. Doesn't help that I hate the sound of it, and that I'm kind of tired of seeing everyone and their mother talk about it.

Come on, be up front with advertising dude, you were just talking about "Honest Reviews".

Hey Glenn, it's worth mentioning that Dave Davies slashed the speakers on his amp following the example of Link Wray, a player famous for the song "Rumble", recorded in 1958. Also, the birth of the Gibson's FZ-1A Fuzztone came about from the most unlikely of sources: a country song called "Don't Worry" by Marty Robbins. The distortion on the baritone guitar in the solo was allegedly attributed to a faulty capacitor on one channel of the mixing console. Marty Robbins and the band loved the sound so much the take was kept. The engineer on the session sought out the help of an electrician to duplicate the sound and once the sound was captured in small unit they shopped it to Gibson, and fuzz was born.

Wish there was a full documentary movie on The History of Distortion. I'd love hearing the entire story of the slashed amp and The Kinks. I'd throw kickstarter money on that thing in a heartbeat.

I love that Positive Grid are doing so much work and developing these amazing tools.

That is literally one of the worst Fuzz sounds I heard in a long, LONG, time. Fuzz pedals are a dime a dozen, there are really good ones out there which clone just about any style of fuzz for $20 brand new, using real hardware

I knew it would be a positive grid add

Ok so if a $20 behringer pedal can out preform whatever studio magic is bieng done here why whould i EVER not use the physical pedal? Any actual pedal.

That fuzz tone sucked absolute balls, if you're going to advertise a product, find something half decent to advertise in the first place.

I downloaded positive grid. In my opinion the program sounds like a sac of shit. It's not bad for practice, and it's certainly a bit better than something like amplitube, but it would never, EVER, end up on something I record for other people to hear.

Dude this is awesome, I am studying music technology at the moment for school, particularly punk and this series will be great for me. Thanks Glenn and keep up the good work :)

Cashing that Positive Grid check so fast, couldn't even wait to render the video all the way to the end. *Queue outro music and transition frame for 4 seconds... THAT's enough!*

Man, I've been playing guitar for years but this guy opened a new door for me when it comes to gear and tone ...I learned a lot from you Glen, especially with the bass player thing. Hahahahaha. I can relate to that with my previous bass players, I always end up recording the bass part for them. Anyways, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge to world. Keep rocking \m/

Wow this is such a cool video. Hope you make a complete series about the most well known effects guitarists and bassist (yes them too) are so used to seeing and hearing today. Things like a flanger, phaser, delay, chorus, reverb, you name it...

Keep it up man, really enjoying your channel!!!

Sounds weird that you tried to replicate a vintage fuzz tone over a modern recorded drum sound. Would be cool if you looked into trying to create a whole track that sounds 60's using modern gear since I assume none of us can afford old school gear and keep it running.

I tried bias one a while ago and everything with any kind of gain sounded like an angry bag of bees and absolutely terrible. Did I do anything wrong?
