The idea of the spring pole is that you are fishing whilst setting up camp, fetching wood for your fire, checking for potable water and attending to other necessities. If you put up a few of them in various places, you have a fair to reasonable chance of having a meal. I find it extremely difficult to hold pole and do all the other things at the same time. Static fishing has its place, as does every other kind. It all depends on the situation.

Thank you for showing that fishing knot. I have been out just practicing survival fishing because I've never really fished before and I didn't know how to make the line not slip. Tried that knot and it works like a charm.

Set up the spring pole first thing in the morning then spend the day fishing with the pole add any fish caught by the spring pole to your day`s catch then set the spring pole to fish overnight whilst you`re asleep....Hopefully it will catch you breakfast:)

With those large mouth bass plus those frogs I would have went with the frogs as bait with a longer line and tied it to a larger branch still on a tree. Yes I was homeless at times and had great uncles teach me how to get food in the wild. I married a woman that grew up eating mostly wild food. We made a good couple and still together nursing each other thru old age. You're video takes me back. Thank you.

I just wanted to share my best fishing story. Fishing in a pond near sunset i was catching good sized crappie on a grasshopper lure. I caught a fish every single cast as soon as it hit the water. Lost my lure and threw in a bare hook and they were biting a bare hook and i was still catching fish nearly every cast. I caught 26 crappie in less than 30 minutes. Best fishing of my entire life in a little cow pond in OK.

An inexpensive collapsible rod or even a very small light wait rod and reel fits perfect in a back pack and if you have room for line you will have room for it with a small box of hooks waits and even small lures in a size of a small box or even a rapped plastic bag. Never leave home without it.

for a place like that, to keep from frustration. I just bring the fishing kit (lines/ hooks) & bread for bait. And let the surroundings do the job for me. If I want bream, I use wonder bread cuz they love the taste! If I want bass, I can use the bream as live bait! And catfish I can just use bread itself or cut the bream into pieces for that!

My father in law during the depression put out an abundance of simple limb lines, a lot less time consuming allowing more lines. Also, I don’t know about spider line but monofilament lasts a very long time.

Pro is that you can set up as many as you have hooks for. When manually fishing you can only use 1 at a time. I have a pen rod and reel and it works great. A fishing kit for me is a dual purpose in survival, food and morale.

something told me you were going to come running into the picture, funny, . this is sort of like a primitive jaw jacker trap line.

I used to use the improved clinch knot but was told that the uni knot, the surgeons loop and the palomar knot were stronger so I tried them and discovered that they are superior knots.

The improved clinch knot is made stronger when you fold the line back on itself and then tie the clinch with doubled up line

We use a limb and line and hook to jig frogs get that hook right up under the lips and lift up quick or with a rubber jig wave had frogs try to eat them and hook theirselves..cool video I like the setup
