How many pieces of firewood in a round

Ever wonder how many split pieces of firewood you will get out of a big round? We know that we'll get 4 pieces out of a 7 inch round. Maybe 6 pieces out of a 10-12 inch round. In this video we do a test on splitting rounds to see how many split firewood pieces we get out of a variety of rounds. We even split a 24 inch round to see how many good firewood pieces we get out of it. We use the Ford Workmaster 641 tractor, the Big Tool Rack, the Split-Fire 2265, the Stihl MS290 Farm Boss, and the Stihl BR 800 Magnum back pack blower. We find some dormant ants (diapause is what it's called - not hibernation). #firewood #logsplitter #fordtractor #workmaster #outdoorgans #purplecollarlife #diapause @Bigtoolrack

Good Evening Sis, Actual Temperature is the Right One 🧐👍Women have a tendency to go by what they are feeling and not the reality of things 👍🤣Ok, I'm on the potatoes peeling duty 🤣👍Great wood splitter and antique Ford tractor in live action 👌👍😇Ho boy, call the sand truck !!! Cheers 🍻🍻

I agree - actual Temp! But its acceptable to reference wind-chill and feels like temp, because that's how it feels... I've done the leaf blower thing on the sidewalk before, and this snow was cold with a sand-like consistency (perfect for this method); but be careful because using the leaf blower on wet snow on a cold night will flash freeze the sidewalk as you blow the snow off, making it a challenge to stay on your feet with the blower on your back.

I find if I just knock the ants off and don't worry too much about it they leave the dry wood alone. They seem to like the moisture and stay away from the dry stuff in my experience

I go with what the temp is that my body feels. If they say it is zero but feels like minus 20, then it is minus 20

The Split-Fire did an outstanding job with the big round. I don't think it's a big deal that it could not lift the big round. I need to remind myself when I run into the limits of the equipment I have at my disposal, "everything is a compromise in life." As you pointed out in earlier videos, the split-fire is compact, easy to roll by hand and can handle some of the most difficult wood to split. I think it is a great little firewood splitter. And the backpack blower was a real champ removing the snow. Enjoy the journey - cheers

8:30 I guess your BigToolRack could do the job of counterweight if you dropped it on the opposite side (wheel) of the splitter and the chainsaw wouldn't be needed then.

Nicely done.. it may take longer to get the bigger stuff done, but I tend to think the time is about the same.. When you are done with full cord ..
Happy New Year to you and your family

Split fire seemed to work well. Cycle time about the same when that cold?

Tell you what, those stihl yellow chains make a difference! I hit a nail yesterday, so finally got around to putting my new 18" bar and yellow chain on my ms291. Man, that thing now screams through wood like its not e en there! Been doing a job on a storm damage norway maple, and got thr trunk and main limbs bucked in no time flat! Its a totally different saw. ( was a 20" bar and older green chain)

I have that same stove located in Oklahoma. it is the best stove i've ever had. I have two piles, my toothpick piles like your making and my large splits. We use toothpicks morning and daytime and load with larger at night. Please do a comprehensive study on small toothpicks and almost boiler rounds on an overnight burn!

With all due respect to your lovely wife, the temperature is the temperature. Even when it changes "rapidly" -- "Man, the temps are dropping like a rock" -- it's still a slow, measurable linear shift. The wind, on the other hand, is never steady, so the "real feel" could be 30°F now, 25° thirty seconds later, 35° thirty seconds after that. IMO. 😉👍😎

Unless Jennifer is reading this, in which case she is absolutely right. (Hey, I've been married over 33 years...I know how this works!)
