By the time of the clone wars, the vast majority of sabers were either blue, green, or red. yellow and purple lightsabers were rare, although they were nowhere near the rarest. Even orange, the saber color of the diplomat, and white were not overly rare in legends. 3 colors were far rarer than any others. The first was turquoise, a color that required the use of several rainbow gems as a replacement for Kyber crystals. These gems were among the most expensive in the galaxy, with just one costing the same as a calamari star cruiser. The next was of course black, the color of the dark saber. So far, there is no known reason as to why it is this color or why it is so rare although it is likely due to its unique Mandalorian heritage. The last color was only ever seen used by Ood Bnar, a sentient plant Jedi master who famously turned himself into a tree in an attempt to stop Sith Lord Exar Kun. He wielded a Kyber crystal known as Bnars sacrifice which emitted a powerful brown lightsaber blade.

My dad used to carve lightsabers and he mad one for me and my sister. Since I was very young at the time he made a shoto and when asked what colour I wanted I answered turquoise just cause it was my favourite colour. Out of the hundreds of lightsabers he carved and made I was the only one with that colour.

I like that most star wars lore comes about by someone making up a random detail because it looks cool (lightsaber colors, padawan braids, etc) and then proceeding to make up 3+ pages of backstory to justify it

There was also ones like the bronze lightsaber, which literally only has one known documented existence in the form of Lowbacca, a wookie jedi's lightsaber that was made out of scavenged computer parts of an abandoned temple on yavin IV, which uses a unique crystal and focusing lens to make it's distinctive blade color
