Enterprise GIS System Concept and Architecture

Today I would like to share my views on how an Enterprise GIS System can be beneficial to an Organization
In today’s world of rapid advancement in technology, increased automation, large data, and familiarization with spatial imageries, professionals realize the benefits of organizing and managing information geographically using GIS, especially for companies with large data
Organization business applications always strive rarely to live in isolation, and users expect instant access to all business functions, regardless of which system the functionality may reside in. These applications are integrated, and databases are stored and updated on daily basis in Multi Organization Data Store (MODS) as to centralize all spatial and non-spatial data at one place and Business Process Management-BPM solution allows us to build/automate business processes and workflows this in turn is integrated with GIS System
Since the advancement of technology, every organization infrastructure is equipped with different types of sensors which transmit real-time data stored and managed in OSISoft PI through Open Platform Communications (OPC) and stored into ArcSDE through GeoEvent for Server. All the data that resides on the MODS and BPM application is being pushed to ArcSDE SQL / Oracle database from Materialized Views (MV) and along with sensor-based real-time and historical operational data within a geospatial context using PI Integrator for ESRI through GeoEvent Server
ArcGIS Enterprise is a mapping and analytical platform that allows members of organization to easily manage location enabled data and brings Web GIS into their infrastructure with the power to analyze, create, and share content to any device, anywhere, at any time. ArcGIS Enterprise comprises of ArcGIS Data Store which connects to Enterprise Spatial Data-ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server for hosting GeoSpatial Web Services and can be viewed on a web-browser using ArcGIS Web Adaptor, and Portal used for organizing, analyzing, storing and sharing location-enabled content on a web-browser
Each activity in an organization is directly related to the physical assets on the ground and the critical business processes involved at every stage of its life cycle has a spatial component in it, but this spatial component is not reflected on the processes and workflows.
