As the time went on and Janis tried more and more games his haircut turned into a proper soldiers cut 😅 that gave away his feelings

For me, the Undaunted series is a good war game that is not too heavy and quick. And the deck-building mechanism is so well done - each card is one solder (it even has a name on a card) you can lose.

You guys had a special spot in my gamer heart for quite a while now, but with this video you’ve really outdone yourselves.

Not once did I feel the urge to skip ahead. Thanks for taking us along on this journey!

I would be interested if you already tried Pax Renaissance? Because it is often referred to as a 'Here I stand' in 60 minutes.

I have the feeling that war games often have better rules than any other game, because the players are often involved and quite critical.

Not surprised with Sekigahara, the game is great but you need a couple games before you actually grasp it and can start enjoying it.

For other suggestions Undaunted is a must, and I personally think Command and Colour Ancient is superior to memoir 44 adding just a tiny bit complexity.

Historic war games are what brought me into the gaming hobby in the first place.

1974 a friend from school asked me over to play Avalon Hill's "Jutland". I never imagined such things existed, and was hooked from the start.

Here I Stand is such an epic game.

Others to play- of the Undaunted. Successors, a COIN etc. One of the Academy games titles-878 Vikings is my favourite.

I have a sheet of plexi-glass which I put over paper maps. Yes, light glares on it, but it keeps the map flat, and your pieces won't slide or jump if someone bumps the map.

I'm a big fan of ASL, so I think you are absolutely up to something. Great format btw. :)

If you like Memoir 44, BattleLore has similar mechanisms in a Medieval Fantasy context, with the option to toggle off the fantasy to replay historical battles! It also has some good historical expansions (e.g., The Hundred Years' War).
