Lexus unveiled the all-new, 2023 Lexus RZ 450e for the first time today in a global debut. The first of many EVs to arrive from the "transformed" Lexus, the RZ brings amazing combination of QDR (quality, durability, reliability), technology, refinement, AWD, and powertrain. This new e-TNGA based vehicle will "wow" the industry with best-in-class handling, agility, and smoothness. We reveal all the details in our video.

I really like QDR, Quality, Durability and reliability. This kind of talk from Lexus is what I want in a car, especially electric.

Koichi-san, Thank you for the information on the RZ. You are spot on in that Toyota/Lexus will focus on "QDR" as I see other EV manufactures focus on 'flash' but quality isn't as high on the list. As a 4Runner owner for many years, I am hoping for a 4Runner with hybrid drive-train option in the next model.

I can't wait to find out what driving experience the new direct4 system offers, as well as the interior features and options. From what I've seen, it looks like an interesting battery EV.

Excellent review as usual, I placed a pre-ordered on Subaru Solterra which shares same platform and similar range...I love and appreciate the build quality of lexus but for now the range is a but underwhelming for premium car $$$, our next electric suv hopefully will be larger Lexus with at least double the range

Thanks for the news, David! I’m curious about the steer by wire —can that be safe when a failure happens?

This is very exciting for the future for me since I will not be ready to replace my current car for while. It will be super fun to see what Toyota comes up with.

David my second question is When do you think solid state battery going to be use for Lexus ev ?

The hurdles for me are battery to weight capacity. I'm sure Toyota will always be conservative which is good it's my mindset as well. I was disappointed in the battery tech of GM Hummer not that much improvement that thing's over 9K lbs. I like what they're doing with the Tundra hybrid and can't wait to see after it's really tested ( test to fail) I'm sure it'll follow in the footsteps of the Prius those systems do very well with most batteries lasting over 120K miles and pack replacements can be around $1.5K to replace. It's exciting times but would be even more with improvements in dependable battery technology. Thanks David for your excellent insight and presentations can't wait for future videos👍

What are the charging options, is there a portable charging system available to plug into the grid or into a generator when you are in an outback situation ? Have Toyota considered incorporating the windscreen washer delivery directly onto the wiper blade ? I have experienced this on a Mercedes Vito that I have previously owned and an Isuzu truck that I currently own and have found that it is a far more efficient method of delivery

David, With the yoke steering control, I hope there are no more complaints about cold spots on the heated steering wheel 😉

Thank you for this. Do you think it will actually be avail to purchase in 2023 or more like 2024? Also when can we expect to see what new 23 RX will look like?

Plenty of range for the battery capacity which will perform and last longer than any other EV out there which is why Toyota/Lexus is #1. Meanwhile, people will be complaining about a $25K battery replacement for all other EVs BUT they had so much range and power.
