Why did NOBODY tell me this… 🥵

I was only 19 when I first moved to Japan and had no idea what I was getting into 🐥

🙏To this day I identify that first contract (15 months) as the most influential part of my life…

but that was also when I learned I’d be missing out on things at home 👇

❌Christmas
❌Thanksgiving
❌Birthdays
❌Anniversaries
❌Reunions
❌Vacations

You name it, I wasn’t there 🙈

BUT there are definitely moments that I knew I HAD to be there for… my brothers wedding being one of them 🥰

☀️ before I even got injured I knew I was going to be home this summer so I could spend time with my family & celebrate some special people in my life. Thats a decision I’ll never regret 🥰

Wonderful you’ve been able to experience some stuff you missed…as a back pain partner in crime a “blessing” in disguise that you were able to be at and be in the wedding and do your traveling.

Not sure it is the freelancer life, per se. But the traveling life and taking up residence in foreign countries are what will magnify that effect. Also, just living life in general makes having and maintaining relationships with more than a handful of people very difficult.
