Postmenopausal childless cat lady here. Happy to have spent little time with kids in my life. My life, my choice. FU Vance.

I really don’t understand how some women have such a low self-esteem as to stand by men that quite apparently have zero respect for them.

As a postmenopausal woman in retirement: This is the first time in my adult life that I have time and money to care for myself and my needs and wants and do the fun stuff that appeals to no one but me. I was a single mom working a part-time job, raising my two kids, and going to school. Then I had a demanding job and often worked 60 hour weeks. I truly do not want to give up any of my convenience for grandkids. I think it is insulting to women of my age to expect that of us.

I am 59 years old. I have six grandchildren. I still work. I take care of my elderly mother. I help out my children monetarily sometimes and with support in other ways all the time and I spend as much quality time as I can with my grandchildren. Mr. Vance, I invite you to spend a week in my shoes and tell me that my only purpose is to be a babysitter.

There is nothing wrong with grandma helping care for grandkids, provided its HER choice and not some expectation of a postmenopausal woman. We are in 2024 and not 1724, right?

How disconnected from the average American can you be? Not every American family can afford to have a grandma of preretirement age stay home for a year for childcare. Many grandmas have bills to pay that neither them nor their adult children can’t just cover for a year without an income.

He totally knew the answer to this.
This isnt just sexist. It's also massively racist about indian women.

I had to care for my aging dying dad in my 20s alone. If I had kids I would not have been able to care for me my dad and a child. I made too much to get aid and not enough to survive. I didn't eat everyday he couldn't get all his meds.

As a Post Menopausal Grandmother I would be over the moon to help care for my beautiful grand babies…but it is a choice. It is NOT what I am supposed to be doing at my age.

This is so Handsmaids Tales of him. He seems to primarily see women as baby vessels

What is even weirder is that he didn't expect any blow-back for that mother-in-law comment once he returned home.

So if you're in your childbearing years your only purpose is to raise children, and then when you're living _without_ the ability to have children anymore then your only purpose is.... to raise more children?

Why can't they stop gatekeeping over what and how women want to live their own lives? It is simply constant, constant...

Soooo, according to VANCE, after a woman has worked and raised her children, now it's time she quit her job and raise grandchildren.
Post menopausal women, Childress cat ladies, he wants control over all women, WE NOT GOING BACK. VOTE 💙💙💙💙💙

JD Vance's mother-in-law is a provost at the University of California, San Diego, a job/profession that allowed her to take a 1-year sabbatical to be a caretaker for her grandchild, something most grandmothers can't do because their employers wouldn't hold their jobs for them. Also, Vance has talked about the days of one income households when only the husband had to work and the wife could be a stay-at-home mother, which is fine. My mother was a stay-at-home Mom. But that's not what the Vances chose to do, and it wasn't because JD's income wasn't enough to support his family.

So he needed help with his child BUT DOESN’T WANT TO HELP YOUR CHILD

I told a family member a long time ago that being able to have a child doesn’t mean you’re mature, it just means you’re able to reproduce. JD Vance is immature!
