The video itself is great and I respect the fact that you actually sit in front of the camera unlike most other ant channels. The formicarium though .... That's not a pond, it's literally just waterlogged soil. As long as the water is there, no ants could nest there. If you wanted some sort of pond, you would have been better off burying a bowl so the water wouldn't escape into the soil around it.
Also, the plastic is a big no no. It wouldn't allow any water to drain properly at all. You need that weed proof fabric stuff people use in gardening. That would allow all water to pass through but it catches sand/soil.

Crazy love the info and video! Please make the music a little quieter, might make it easier to hear you. But over all the most helpful video I've found!!

I think that's gonna get an extremely pungent odor within a few days or so..
Just having all of that soil constantly soaked, it won't be pleasant I bet..

You should look into putting a layer of pure charcoal over the mesh and gravel layers but before the substrate, it purifies any water that passes through it, and speaking of which does the plastic work as well as window screen or similar mesh, since u want water to pass through to the gravel layer to avoid water logging, finally unless they’re fire ants I don’t think the lakes a good idea as u risk either the ants, or any helpful Arthropods or spring tails drowning

With the plastic covering the drainage layer, the soil surely went foul in this enclosure?

I’ve tried similar and found it got to wet but in the end I buried a bowl nd it worked fine that way although I never could get the humidity just right so used as a outworld instead . Good video and some creativity but don’t know if I was watching you or your tutorial 🔥 🐜 🌱 🙈

Do you intend to change the water/is that a requirement with your set up? If so how do you do that with that set up?

So is this an outworld or are these ants the swimming variety? :-)

Has the water flooded the gravel under the soil?

What way would you suggest getting the water out of the drainage layer? With all of the ants running around. :)

how do you keep it warm in the winter? most tropical ants seem to need at least 21 c minimum, with all that water and glass will they still be happy?
