15 Pokémon With TERRIFYING and WEIRD Beta Designs!

We have learned about a lot of beta Pokemon recently, including cut Pokemon that never made the final games. There are some Pokemon however, who did make it into the finished product, but used to have TERRIFYING beta designs! Today we're looking at 15 of these Pokemon, who could have ended up looking VERY differently!

Theory: They were trying to create two different forms for Sneasel - one pure dark and one pure ice. Then decided to merge them into ice/dark

Mantine's beta designs gives that "Does this look like the face of mercy to you?" vibe but the open mouth one gives that "Get in my belly!!"

I don't see how Beta-Sneasle would look terrifying xD it looks cute and very pkmn-like in my opinion xD

I love how the Hoppip line's regular and beta designs were shown like that. It really did look like a five stage evolution line.

I also love that all black Sneasel design. It reminds me of Sableye.

Politoed looking like Croconaw.

Giratina looking like a Ballchinian.

Blissey looks like a cross between regular Blissey and King Kong Bundy.

Beta Arceus looks mysterious and epic, but while I also love his final design, that beta art is what really makes a god.

Beta Heracross fits my assumption 20 years ago that Heracross was an evolution of Pinsir 😂 maybe Pokemon Company and Game Freak had actually been thinking of going that route and then scraped it? XD

Sunkern gave me a great idea. It's eyes could look like that because it's pupils always track the sun like a sunflower turning towards light. I think that would make for a awesome dex entry to explain that look if that design was final. Something like "This Pokemon never makes eye contact with it's trainer. While it appears to be acting cheeky, rather it's pupils are simply tracking the movements of the sun"

The space world 97 Sneasel looks like a lot Mienfoo and Mienshao from Gen V which could had inspired those 2 Pokémon. Beta Wobbffet also looks like Castform and the Pokémon from the eggs that come from the Pokémon Ranger games.
