The dash 8s have been one of my favorite locomotives for both passenger and freight. My favorite paint scheme on a dash 8 was NS's whitestripe scheme.

The Dash 8s were a favorite in my childhood. I do hope some of them will be sold to railway museum’s to remind fans like myself of the glory day of Dash 8s.

What a great way to start a series. This makes me want to learn more about North American freight diesels. Nice job.

Wow thanks for telling me that Amtrak's dash 8s and band's dash 8s had different paint schemes, I would have never noticed

Dash 8-has DC traction motors, yet has trucks representing AC traction.

Lol I could've used someone like you on one of my wikis a few years back. I enjoyed your sense of humor and how well documented everything was. However, I no longer regularly edit on the wikis (Locomotive Wiki and Trains And Locomotives Wiki), but I still enjoyed this video.

Correction: It was Burlington Northern Santa Fe when they merged. They changed their name in 2001 to just BNSF.

Sadly now many of the numbers BNSF 800-866(CN) will soon join there siblings in oblivion as CN has retired them and sentenced them to Scrap

Also ATSF 576 wrecked and scrapped in 12/14/96 in cajon pass

Locomotive numbers 560-582 were returned to the lessor
563 and 570 are the only 2 remaining B40-8s left on the roster

Enjoyed the video! The B40-8Ws still show up from time to time on the Thayer Sub (Springfield, MO to Memphis, TN ex-Frisco mainline) on BNSF trains. One Dash 7 you omitted at the beginning of the video was the C36-7 which are very cool locomotives in their own right. Also enjoyed the funny bits you added there to. For a minute there I thought you were going to pull a Masakox and yell UNSUBSCRIBE, lol! Can't wait for the GP60 video! Subscribed to your channel too!

We now have a B40-8W in preservation! BNSF donated 537 to the railroading heritage of Midwest America museum.
I hope a C40 variant from BNSF will meet the same fate.

I am honored to these beauties on CN, some with RS3L, some with P5.
