Why is no one Visiting or even talking about this African Country – Mauritania.
This is Mauritania, one of the largest countries in Africa in terms of land area spanning over 1,030,000 kilometer square of land but despite having such a vast land, the country only has a population of about 4.2 million people making it one of the emptiest countries not only in Africa but the world with 3 people per square kilometers.
For those of you who have never heard about this country, Mauritania is a beautiful country located in cross road between north and West Africa. Mauritania gained its independence from France on November 28, 1960. Moktar Ould Daddah became the country's first president, and Mauritania became a one-party state. Since then, the country has experienced political instability, including military coups and periods of unrest, but has made progress towards establishing a democratic government.
Mauritania is known for its vast and varied landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and unique wildlife.
One of the country's most striking features is its desert landscape, which covers over two-thirds of the country. The Sahara Desert in Mauritania is characterized by dramatic sand dunes, rocky outcrops, and stunning rock formations, such as the Eye of the Sahara, a massive circular geological formation that is visible from space. Mauritania is also home to a diverse range of wildlife, including antelopes, gazelles, hyenas, and jackals. The country's coastline, which stretches for over 700 km along the Atlantic Ocean, is home to a variety of marine life, including dolphins, whales, and sea turtles.
The country has a rich cultural heritage, with a mix of Arab, Berber, and sub-Saharan African influences. The ancient city of Chinguetti, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to a collection of well-preserved medieval manuscripts and is a center of Islamic scholarship.
Overall, Mauritania is a beautiful country with a unique landscape, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage. Despite all this awesomeness, the country is some of the least Visited Country in Africa together with Libya, Comoros and Equatorial Guinea. According to the Mauritanian government, during the 2018-2019 tourist season, a total of 4,000 foreign tourists visited Mauritania on charter flights. This is significantly higher than the previous season 2017-2018 when a total of 1,500 tourists were registered, representing an annual increase of 166%. But since Covid The number are at its lowest despite the fact that borders are now open. People are still not visiting the country meanwhile it neighbors like Algeria, morocco and Tunisia have millions of tourists visiting the countries.
The Big Question is Why, Why does such a beautiful country have very few people visiting it. Well in this video, we will try our best to tell you why very few people visit Mauritania but first if you are new here welcome, be sure to subscribe and turn on notification so you don’t miss any of our videos.
There are several factors that contribute to the relatively low number of tourists visiting Mauritania: Including
1. Security concerns
Mauritania has experienced security concerns in recent years, including terrorism and kidnapping. The country is situated in the Sahel region, which has been affected by instability and violence linked to extremist groups such as Al-Qaida and its affiliates. In the past, there have been several incidents of terrorist attacks and kidnappings in Mauritania, including an attack on the French Embassy in Nouakchott in 2009 and the kidnapping of a French tourist in 2010. In addition, there have been instances of cross-border attacks and banditry in the country's border regions. The government of Mauritania has taken steps to improve security in the country, including increasing police presence and border patrols, improving intelligence gathering and sharing, and cooperating with regional and international partners. The government has also implemented a range of counterterrorism measures and has been successful in disrupting several terrorist plots. Despite these measures, security remains a concern in Mauritania, particularly in the border regions and remote areas. The US Department of State currently advises travelers to exercise increased caution in Mauritania due to terrorism and kidnapping risks.
2. Lack of marketing and promotion of the Country.

Recently met a man from this country, He’s been in NYC for less than 4months. His journey to the USA was horrific but he found inspiration and strength from the group he was with. He speaks highly of his Countrys (beautiful people and their hearts) but yet the Politics are unacceptable and are terrorizing everyone’s life? Pray for them and their leaders.

It's so said what has become of this country. All the nations that enslaved countries should now just leave and pay back reparations. Shame on all those countries who violated and still violated.

‘Lack of marketing’ would definitely hinder tourism. But the marketing for tourism in Mauritania should include all the risks associated with going there (there are many).

Although the voiceover's sound is very natural, the tone and spacing between the words do not always sound right to me. Still, thanks for an interesting video.
