Why the Sword is the BEST Weapon // Sea of Thieves

Today we're looking at the why the Sword is the best weapon in the game, but not for the right reasons. It is easily the most low-skilled weapon in the game but for reasons you might not think.

I suggest a few reasons why and why some of the other weapons should be looked at too.

Mobility is the best with the sword. I don’t know what I’d do without sword lunging everywhere I went.

I love the flintlock eye of reach combo. I started using this combo for the commendations in areana but my god, when ur able to hit both shots on the enemy in succession and kill them? THAT is the best feeling ever.

I really like the flintlock sword combo.
I know people call this the phuzzy bond combo, but I actually found it by just testing the different weapons until I found something that I was comfortable with. Sword is just too good to pass up for PVE and mobility, and the flintlock feels really satisfying to fire, especially when you hit a hip shot. If it weren't for hitreg it would probably be most players go to choice I feel.

Having been using the sword since launch, I would like to add that even the most experienced sword users can be easily defeated by an above average double gunner. And for anyone who is struggling against sword lords, using blunderbombs shuts them down almost entirely. The sword is still the best weapon in the game in my opinion, even without factoring in its movement abilities and pve potential.

best weapon in the game is boiling water, no matter if youre double gunning and out of ammo or if youre a sword user and hit reg is screwing you over, a splash of boiling water is always gonna make the enemy go "what is this guy doing" then die from the other 4 splashes you send their way

My favorite weapon is likely a sword and blunderbuss combo. The blunderbuss gets a lot of hate for being a "nooby" weapon, and I admit it shouldn't be one hit or random, but I quite like it for its ladder-defending capabilities and knockback, it helps give you a forced reset in PVP. The sword I like for island use and lunging.
I had to resist from saying kegs because kegs are just a hilarious weapon to use in any instance.

i wish the flintlock got buffed, it feels really cool to be a sword/pistol wielding pirate but its just a worse version of the eye of reach, theres a slim chance 2 shots wont kill, if youre planning to shoot and then go in with the sword you need one more srike to kill, and its way harder to use it at long range, maybe they should nerf the eye of reachs damage and buff the flintlock damage so they are the same, eye of reach is still way more usefull from a far, or while in the air if youre one of those people, but that would make the pistol objectively better (even if only slightly so) at fighting in an enclosed space

I go cutlass, eye of reach all day. The cutlass is a tool and weapon. When I'm having a bad day with my aim, my cutlass always comes in handy. I mostly main naval in my duo, so the eye of reach is perfect for repelling boarders early, taking out cannoneers, and sniping crows nest kegs. Plus, once I'm at my 240 arena wins, that pirate legend sniper will look sweet in my load out.

I've been trying out double gunning lately. It certainly has it's benefits, but I always find myself drawn back to sword and pistol, sometimes rifle. When I end up on an island full of skellies and don't have my sword, I feel naked.

-sword is overpowered in it's current state
-blunder buss is overpowered or underpowered
-pistol is the best weapon in the game
-eye of reach is the best weapon in the game

Eye of Reach: needs no reworking this weapon is perfect where it’s at. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone talk bad about it
Pistol: this weapon needs the projectile speed sped up or something. It is far too easy to reg with this it’s insane. I especially reg when I hip fire.
Blunder: just make it consistent. I can point blank ads someone and every pellet goes through them and no hit maker. Or I can backtrack someone who sword hopped through me. Also the knock back is never consistent. So pellet spread and knock back need ironed out.
Sword: just get rid of the stun and I would be completely fine with this weapon. I would even take a tiny knock back instead which would make more sense than a stun imo. At the current state you can just be brain dead and left click with no repercussions.

I realized recently that I’m very good with the eye of reach, I usually don’t quick scope that’s the only part I’m not great at.
But it’s so satisfying to go into cover right after you shoot (to the point it feels like your curving a bullet) to get a hit marker and hear the death sound effect, so good.

Honestly it all feels pretty balanced except for being one shot by blunderbuss. It should do like 95 damage making fire bombs more relevant.

The sword is my favorite weapon, it's so effective at close range comboed with a blunderbuss. It can absolutely shred enemies leaving you with the upper hand.

Regardless of what is changed, when it comes to close combat, even the most skilled player is still playing 30% Rock Paper Scissors. I love the cutlass/flintlock combo. Great video. And great points I’ve been killed by the eye of reach more than any other weapon haha

Flintlock is 100% the best weapon, as using any other gun after will guarantee the kill, and can be used very well with a sword. Also, the eye of reach’s long range is useless in my opinion, as whenever you fight someone you’ll always be within flintlock range, which will beat an EoR.
