I've played the game Operation most of my childhood. I think I might be ready.

Meanwhile people complain about how much surgeons get paid. If anything, they deserve more in my opinion. I mean, if a meathead who can throw a ball makes millions of dollars a year, why is it so outrageous for a professional with 14 years of training to make a couple hundred thousand?

I just finished my biology major chemistry minor, initially I wanted to be a doctor, but couldn't rationalize essentially trading my 20s to become a doctor... people that have the drive to become doctors are really special people

Here's the real answer: Today's youth goes to medical school based on wanting to make thousands of dollar's. If you look at bedside care, it has tremendously decreased over the years. There are very few doctors that LOVE what they do and have passion for it. Go ahead and look at the passing faces of these doctors in the hallways, wave to them, they won't even acknowledge your existence. Do what you love and want to do. Don't embark on a 14 year journey unless you truly believe this is what you want to do. You'll have times of hardship, youll lose friends, spend nights alone, miss your family's funeral, and a relationship is really hard to hold on too. You will become desensitized to emotions and stressed. If you have a family you'll hardly have time to spend it with them. In the end you have ONE life. If money is the motivator for you to become a doctor, change your course immediately. Lastly, when your taking your last breath of air on your death dead, closing that book of life, can you honestly say it was worth it?

Not trying to become a surgeon or even go to college but you’re kinda an inspiration for me. It’s amazing to see what people are capable of with hard work and sustained focus and you’re an example of that in the flesh. I always thought that people who followed the path you’re on kinda lose their soul along the way because the competitive nature of your school and path. Idk if you’ve read the book Mastery by Robert Greene but it’s amazing and I think you’d be able to relate to it

You need a passion to do it. If you are already asking if it’s worth It, it’s not worth it. If you don’t have a passion for it, is it worth being miserable for the rest of your life

The amount of years doesn't really put me off, but the thought of getting rejected when applying to medical school does. I don't want to waste years applying over and over again honestly, it's scary and sometimes makes me want to turn away but I'll try my best in college, thanks for the video

I'm going for engineering, I was planing for an associates or a bachelors at the most, but you definitely encouraged me to earn a masters, and a PhD, and even a doctorates in my field. Why should it be a problem? It's not like someone who quits studying and starts working is gonna stop aging, either way we're still growing!

I wasted 10 years of my adult life doing nothing and now I'm a professional. so 14 yrs of school is nothing for the payoff
