Senri Kawaguchi is a Japanese jazz and fusion drummer. In Japan she is sometimes known as tekazuhime (手数姫), ("Princess of Many Strokes").

Wow- love the way SK started off with a theme, explored snare/tom interplay, even changed time signatures, maintained the groove. Her ambidextrousness is insane. She doesn't just do a lot of banging, there's serious compositional skill with this girl. SK puts together elements of Gary Chester's book, 4 way Independence, Steve Smith, a little Thomas Lang, the precision of Simon Phillips, excellent stick rebound a la Buddy Rich, and a beautiful smile. She'll go far, either with a band or solo artist like her teacher Kogo Suganuma or Akira Jimbo. I've only seen Akira live, but Senri's got that same steady, frightening groove precision. For me it is not just her incredible talent but it is the beautiful spirit she exudes while playing. I have watched dozens of Senri's videos and she is always smiling and genuinely enjoys collaborating with others. I wish she would come tour the US so I could see her play live.
