Port of Miami was closed after an early morning accident blocked the north channel. Also a cruise port is upset about cruise passenger sneak into town and should we make jokes about tragedy? Let's talk about it.

Hey!! We were on the Carnival Celebration this morning. They served us lunch and they had some entertainment going for us while we waited. We disembarked the ship at 6:40 pm

Maybe people aren't aware that a 19 year old was on that submersible that didn't want to go on it, according to his aunt. The very young adult was terrified of going on it. He did it for his father on Father's Day. A loss of any life is not laughable.

20 years retired Coast Guard veteran here answering your question of "should tax payers pay for those who are risky in their adventures on the sea?" Well....that would be almost of the rescues the CG conducts on a daily basis. Here are a few that I PERSONALLY were involved in over my time. Rescued one small boat that went out on an all day excursion w/ less than a gallon of gas and ran out in the middle of the channel almost getting ran over by a tanker. Many Many bridge jumpers and people that tried to swim across the channel that don't know how to swim after drinking all day. So you tell me if we should charge people that are not too smart when it comes to their own life and making decisions that are life or death. USCG does charge those individuals (if found) that hail false maydays and cause searches that were knowingly false but other than that it is hard to say whether somebodies' decision was not smart because in my experience about 90% of people should not have gone out on the water in the watercraft (or none) that led to their demise.

I was on the NCL Escape yesterday, which was the first ship to enter the port of Miami which did not dock until about 4.30 PM Then took an hour to clear. NCL keep some restaurants opened all day and a few bars. (lucky they were able to remove the boat that was blocking the channel)

It makes me very sad to think that there are people who make fun of the recent Titan tragedy. Regardless of their state of wealth, they have families who are grieving. My thoughts & prayers are with the family of the person who died in the ferry accident. Always appreciate your cruise news, Tony.

We are on the celebration now. We got to the port at 8pm, but could not board until 930pm. Several people passed out from the heat and humidity. Sail away was 1:45am. It was miserable to stand there for 1 1/2 hrs. Some people were there all day in the heat, rain, lightning. Shuttles brought people to the pier to drop off luggage only, then they were take to Bayside Marketplace to wait for the ship to dock and unload. Priority and suite guest line was abandoned as everyone crowded the doors waiting to get out of the heat. They could have let us in to wait in the empty terminal, but didnt. Hope the rest of the cruise goes smoothly.

We are doing a Fall Foliage cruise on RC this October. They cancelled our Bar Harbor port and switched it to Boston. I am sad to not see it but the residents voted to limit the number of cruise visitors.

From my days working in the Grand Canyon. If Park Service had to send out rescue teams for lost hikers, you were sent a bill. Don't know if that's the case any longer.
