Hi Sisi, sorry to see you injured. I purchased a mandolin slicer last October, and the first time I used it, I ended up in the Emergency Room after slicing off a big chuck of my pinky finger, so I knew exactly what you endured. It's a great tool, but you have to be extremely careful when using it. You need to use a grip or glove for the food you're slicing as protection between your hands and the mandolin. Enjoyed the vlog!

Sisi, that round handled piece is meant to be used as a barrier between your food and the blade. When I get close to the end of my vegetable, I use the grips on the bottom and use it to slide what I'm cutting over the blade.
