If you're new to stacking, learn all you can about the type of precious metals that you'll be collecting if you're collecting coins learn about the coins dimensions such as weight, thickeness and diameter. In addition, try to get yourself the necessary tools to test out your precious metals like a scale, neodymium, calipers for coins, and a pinger tool like the one in the video. Make sure to purchase from reputable dealers and avoid any numismatics considering they can carry a high premium. Always remember precious metals isn't a quick rich scheme but rather a long term investment and a hedge against inflation.

This is an excellent simple test to confirm a metal's purity.
However you cannot beat a density test, hardness test, and chemical analysis. The sample would suffer some damage but the results are 100% accurate.

I'm old enough to remember when most coins had silver in them. In your pocket or your hand with other change, silver makes a clacking sound that is not high-pitched.

Out of interest, how do brass fakes fare with the magnet test? Do they present like silver as copper does?

I am a flute player and I am a little confused. The solid silver headjoints
make no sound when touched, while nickel headjoints produce a long-lasting, ringing tone. Why is it the other way around in this case?

I had no idea someone was making fake silver

Yeah but, what does the ping app say?

I had two one ounce silver buffalo rounds. One was from Sunshine Mint and one was from Silver Town. They both sounded different but both passed. 🤷‍♂️
