This hobby isn't a one time purchase type of thing. You will be constantly upgrading.
This is good advice for beginners though. Great video.

I'm old retired and have two complete rigs, one for console and one for PC.

Over the past 2 years I've been buying all the latest Direct drive bases on the market just because I can and want to experience them for my self.

In the late 90s I was mainly doing flight sims but went full racing Sims in the mid 2000.

I currently use a fanatec DD1 podium for ps5 and a simucube v2 sport for PC.
If I where going to recommend a wheel that's good value for money for both PC and console it would be the Logitech Pro. The FFB is spot on and truforce is no joke and is a game changer, the only problem is the pedals although much better than standard pedals.

If you have a little more money then the fanatec DD1 podium with the CSL elite V2 pedals, I much prefer the modular mode of the CSL elite V2 pedals over the V3's

Buying secondhand is also a good option if you want to ease yourself into it. After buying a PS5, I bought a Thrustmaster T300RS GT with basic pedals - I returned it and bought used Fanatec CSL Elite base, F1 rim, V1 load cell pedals and a NLR wheelbase 2.0 for less money, less than £300 (uk). I enjoy using a wheel but I know I don't have the time to get really into sim racing so for now the PS5, GT7 and my temp rig is absolutely fine. By the way, for anyone starting out, all of these peripherals are just controllers - most important is learning to drive the tracks and this takes a lot of practice. I'm nearly as quick with a controller vs wheel but the wheel etc is more fun for sure.

Im a frustrated sim racer Ive had a Playseat Challenge and Logitech bundle for 4 yrs, i race daily 20hrs a week.
Upgrading isn't an option for me but i still love it.

If you’re going to stick with PlayStation and GT7.. I HIGHLY recommend VR2 rather than monitors to race. It’s has absolutely blown my mind! Incredible experience.

One thing I wish I discovered sooner was never apply full throttle in low gears when the steering is more than say 45 degrees. This has enabled me to drive without traction control on GT7. From that starting point I then realised just how much throttle I could get away with if you do go beyond 45 degrees, this massively helps with sharp turns. My next upgrade is the load pedals, my trail braking is crap with the G29 pedals

Imagine if there was a Sim set up for motorcycle

If you have any plans for drifting, make sure you're researching the wheel you're getting for it. Some wheels like the G29 and G923/920 have a slower return rate than say a T300RS. You want a faster return rate/stronger motor so that you'll have a better time. You can still drift with a DFGT/G29/etc but it's not gonna be as good of an experience if you had a T300/Direct drive/etc.

One of the things I regret is never getting in to actual motorsport, I'd have loved to have gone road racing (motorbike) such as IOM TT. WAY too late now. A chance conversation with a mate at work the other day has led me here. Great advice - thanks. I'm going to scratch my itch and go sim racing. I've subbed by the way, you deserve to be earning from this channel so I hope you smash through a 1000 subs quickly.
Cheers
Neil

Some nights I still play with controller when I don’t feel like actually driving I’ll go back to the throwback & chill out with the controller

Nice informative video!! I love my tgt2 with gt7 and the psvr2, it's a fantastic experience, no way I'm going back to flat screen racing, it's too much of a game changer. My advice if you plan on mainly playing gt7 like me, buy a tgt2 servo base, if possible at a discount or used, tlcm pedals and the 599xx alcantara 30cm wheel. Killer combo at a somewhat reasonable price, and the tgt2 transducer, exclusive to gt7, is awesome.

I'm a beginning simracing guy (on a budget). My best friend owns a full fanatec dd pro/clubsport setup with a next level alu seat base. Costs about 3k€ all together. But as i'm on a budget, I've tried with another good friend a thrustmaster t300 rs gt. Frankly, except the more torque, the t300 rs gt was good enough for me, so I've bought a t300rs gt wheel with the t-clm load cell pedals separately 2nd hand nearly used. Also a Playseat evolution. Costed me in total 350 bucks. All as good as new. Couldn't be more happy with my budget setup.

I have spent a lot of money on equipment. However this only srated to happen after ten years of being in the hobby. To the new commers, take it eay and make sure this is for you. It gets stupid expensive if not careful . Worth every penny :)
