Keep in mind that the Hori Split Pro and Hori Split *Compact* were made when the Switch OLED wasn’t released yet, you only had the regular Switch and the Switch Lite. The regular Switch had a terrible kickstand.

They used to stop your table or whatever you put it on from clicking the back buttons because it could be important so as it’s actually quite good

They lay on top of the dock to make sure its stable

They're props. Incase you want to play table top mode with a pro controller. It gives it a gap between the Switch and the table so it doesn't over heat. It also makes it easier to grab when it's laying down.

Honestly, they’re a cool concept for me. I have bigger hands and I feel like they’re not rounded enough like a actual controller on the back. They still feel better than the actual joy don’t get me wrong, but my only complaint is they’re not round it like a controller grip I’ve done bought third-party grips off of Amazon that feel a lot better and a lot cheaper and have a lot of the same features

My problem is the pairing button is pushed in to far and it won’t come out and I can’t take the controllers out

my hori split pads are going back to target...they won't go on my switch due to those tabs...i have the nyko slim dockable case on my switch and it won't fit

I believe its so it doesn't overheat or get hot depending on how long you are leaving it down...

its for the regular switch because the regular stand sucks

Just cut then off and sand it down but thats definitely a stupid design choice
