“The D’Anjou Pear is a late season variety introduced in the 1880’s in the United States. Unlike other pears, the D’Anjou does not color up yellow when it’s fully ripe, so you have to stay on top of it and keep checking it to see if it’s right.

Use the Top of the Neck or Stem test to see if it’s ripe. Put your finger by the stem and press. If it has some give to it, it’s ready to eat.

I’ll cut into this one and see what it’s all about. Beautiful white flesh, this is a nice meaty pear. Let’s sample a piece and do a Taste Test. Very smooth, not an overwhelming sugar flavor. This has a more nuanced, tropical flavor.

That’s what makes it so special for grilling. D’Anjou Pear is great on the grill. It’s an incredible piece of fruit that is great for baking and fresh eating or slicing in salads.

Most pear Growers don't pronounce the d in Anjou pears.... I wish they would all get on the same page with their I personally like it better without pronouncing the D
