Tanner, I know you were probably pressed for time by this point, trying to create lots o' videos to fill your interim during your Mission. Otherwise, I definitely would have suggested flipping the LEDs to see how cool this circuit really was...

It's *NOT* a micro-controller, it just a plain TTL chip. A HEX Schmitt-Trigger Inverter.

I believe it's even older, possibly from a 1980's popular science mag.. Looks like a Transformer. LED's do not have flat side, also possibly from old stock. With a multimeter or scope it should be easy to trace from trigger IC to LED's. You can test LED's in circuit. Would be a cool Tanner Tech LOGO!

Old? I have an odd feeling that thing is probably no older than 5 years

This was almost certainly made by Chaney Electronics in the early 90's. They still make and sell a lot of kits using the same style and materials.

Thirty-first week of 1989 on the inverter chip. Schmitt gives good transitions between on and off. Looks to be voltage controlled and gives different outputs to the leds when the voltage changes.

Regarding the age of the assembly, note the date code on the integrated circuit. "8931" refers to the 31st week of 1989.

A lot of commercial boards looked like this years ago bbut this is ''modern'' you can tell by the modern components

By the time you've talked about not fixing a couple LEDs, you could have fixed a couple of LEDs. Lol
Or just BRIDGE 'em with some new ones...

The back side reminds me of a transformers autobot symbol.
I would try to combine it with an Arduino synthesizer using the Mozzi Library.
I'm going to build one of these soon.

I wish I could have seen it working...

A video showing a bit of your mission calling wouldn't go amiss.

This is my all-time favorite intro (I think you meant microamp)

Hi and will start by thanking you for all the great videos ! I was hoping if you could tell me if you have ever covered verifying that earlier stages/transistors are OK when you have failed output transistors. If not would it be possible for you to cover this subject use bare bones equipment (like me ) and what to look out for as to save yourself another run to the electronics shop .Thanks again

Come on Tanner, Fix it! Can you give us the info written on the board. Maybe you could order a new circuit board and build a new one. I would like to see it work.

At least draw the schematic diagram if the intention of the video is "analyzing the circuit"!

Just smile my buddy, It looks like you are stressed out of something and the video also doesn't look interesting at all. Love your educational videos. Also try to make similar content. Thanks....
