Unraveling the Mystery of Holy Russia with Gary Lachman

Gary Lachman is the author The Return of Holy Russia: Apocalyptic History, Mystical Awakening, and the Struggle for the Soul of the World as well as over twenty other books about the influence of esotericism on politics and society. He has written biographies of Carl Jung, Aleister Crowley, Rudolf Steiner, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, Emanuel Swedenborg, P. D. Ouspensky, and Colin Wilson.

Here he describes the many mystical threads that run through Russian history. He describes the interplay of Slavic and Mongol shamanism with the Orthodox Christian faith. He highlights many paradoxes associated with the Russian character, such as a penchant to fuse devout religious feelings with a violent temperament. He focuses on Russia's unique geography that is both European and Asian.

Gary's book Secret Teachers of the Western World was like finding buried treasure for me. I studied history as an undergrad and graduate student with an emphasis on the history of ideas. I was amazed to read about Western thinkers I had never even heard of. Esoteric Writers like Jacob Boehme, Gemisthos Plethon, and Rene Guenon. So thanks to Gary I'm playing catch up in my reading, filling in some rather large blind spots. He also shed light on the more mystical aspects of leading European intellectuals that are more well known like Plato, Issac Newton, and Goethe. I look forward to reading the rest of his material including his new one discussed here. I'm also a bit of a Blondie fan, so I have nothing but praise for Mr Lachman. Thank you and keep writing....

Well there have been people living in Russia for thousands of years and there are some massive megaliths in southern Russia single stone blocks as big as the massive megalith in the Baalbek quarry at Lebanon. Look it up.
