Diversity Visa Lottery History
The Department of State administers the annual congressionally mandated Diversity Visa Lottery Program. The Diversity Visa Lottery is based on Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) and is conducted by the Department of State. This law create a group of immigrants also known as diversity visa immigrants, and makes 50,000 visas available to them yearly. These diversity visa immigrants are born in countries with very low immigration rates to the United States. For this fiscal year 2023, the United States Government will give 50,000 green cards to successful applicants.
