On September 25, 1965, Satchel Paige pitched three innings for the Kansas City Athletics. He had given up a grand total of one hit, a strikeout, no walks, and no runs. He was 59 years old. Satchel Paige was inducted into the Hall of Fame six years later.

Vinny telling a story, calling the game without missing a pitch. The one and only!

I like how Adrian Gonzalez is complicit with Vin Scully in order to let him finish this story with a series of well timed foul balls. Lol

Amazing how the batter’s time is up as Scully’s story ends.

I hated the Dodgers, but sometimes when the traffic was really bad, I’d switch the radio over and listen to Vin Scully for a while. He NEVER called a bad game and the way he would weave stories in with the action on the field was masterful. Michael Jordan was the Vin Scully of basketball.

Legend telling legendary story about a legend. Wonderful close: "my thanks to Adrian for fouling off all those balls." Ha! He wanted to tell that story so badly, and wanted the time to tell it right!

Vin Scully is such an amazing storyteller, oh, and there's a game going on too that he's right on top of. So happy to have had him and Chick Hearn call Dodgers and Lakers games you could hear and see for FREE as a kid.

My dad told me he saw Satch, tell the infielders to sit on the ground and he struck out the side. ( Legend! )

There will never be another storyteller and historian like Vin Scully. With his retirement part of baseball’s heart went with him. Glad though to have had all those years to listen to the maestro. Those years are gone

The baseball gods made Gonzalez's at bat last just long enough to finish this story.

Great camera shots throughout this as well, especially the one just behind the left field pole.

Vin Scully was the Michael Jordan of announcers. There was Vin and then everyone else.

I was lucky enough to shake Mr. Scully’s hand and talk to him when I was 14 at “The Orange Show” in San Bernardino…class…Respect…

Great story! When I was a kid I lived in Rochester. Our team was the Rochester Red Wings. I remember the hole in the fence. I also remember when Satchel Paige pitched for the Miami Marlins. One night Paige was brought in from the bullpen to pitch late in the game. And our Red Wings lit him up. Of course, I was quite happy about that.
