Please let us know in the comments which diesel you have and I will tailor future video features with this in mind.

Remapping
We look at the typical gains and power increase you'll get from remapping a turbo diesel engine.

In This Video We Answer

How To Do Diesel Turbo Tuning?
Are Diesel Mods Worth It?
Can Remapping a Diesel Car Make more power & economy?
What is TDI Tuning?
Will remapping damage the engine?
How do you tune an engine - especially tuning Diesel Engines With Remaps and Turbo Upgrades

So this is a guide to remapping a car particularly remapping a diesel car. Via ecu remapping you can
remap the engine and revise the way it uses air and fuel to make more power.

With a diesel car remapping and ecu remaps, with chip tuning and piggy back tuning boxes make so much sense. Will it damage a car? Why should you do a diesel remap? What is engine remapping and how do you choose a good ecu remap. If you've wondered about how to remap ecu and how remaps work then this guide to Diesel Tuning and mapping is for you.

I’ve driven turbo diesels for over twenty years and have always let the oil get round for thirty seconds before driving off and the same when stopping let the turbo spool down while it still has an oil supply rather than switching the engine off while the turbo is still spooled up and the oil supply is cut off, not had a turbo problem with any vehicle even at very high mileages.

Got a vw TDI 2.0 tune from an english company, definetly very good value for the performance increase. I hade a choice to buy a, user upload and download OBD install device, or have a tech do it. Both options have their advantages. I had a tech do it based on his reputation. You didn't really discuss these two different options. But in the end your getting the same predetermined tune file that's been made on the dyno with the same model car, or at least the same model engine and ECU. The tech said he'd be happy to do adjustments to the map if required. Which along with the guarentee offered is the reason you would have a tech do it over the do it yourself mapping device. When I have the DSG tune installed I will have him look at the turbo map. So it's good advice your offering about the cool down times for it. I hadn't considered that. Thanks for the video. DSG remapping vid? maybe.

All of this sounds very good and interesting. You have single handedly convinced me to now go talk to a tuner for my Amarok (in Sydney).
Thanks for the quality info mate, Cheers

I've always owned diesels and apart from 1 cheap runabout. I've tried a tuning box but found a remap much better

Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I just bought my first diesel car and am considering some changes. What would you think, good safe figures would be for a 2016 Scorocco TDI 2.0?

The reason I ask is I have fear of the mapper maxing it out and causing reliability issues.

I’m seriously considering getting my Karoq 1.6 TDI remapped but I’m concerned about the longevity of the DQ200 7-speed dry DSG box, I used to drive a Fabia vRS which had the DQ200 and many people were mapping them past the factory spec and they were fine but I just wondered if you had some insightful knowledge about how to care for a DSG box when mapping the car since it’d make more torque than a petrol would.

I’m currently considering doing a stage 1 ECU remap, carbon cleaning on my 2014 Audi A6 2.0 TDI s line auto, my going is to make the car run smoother and revive the car after buying it at 80k miles but I’m not sure about how that will effect the reliability of the car? Am I right

I’m looking at getting a stage 2 map on my 3.0 v6 tdi Mercedes C320. The remap company near me has said all I need is the DPF removed for the map (the car doesn’t have a DPF from factory). Do I need an uprated intercooler or do you think stock one is fine?

Is it worth remapping a 2009 Fiesta 1.4 diesel? 68bhp. Or would it just turn it into a fuel guzzler?

I also have a 2.0l TDI VW. It's in a Mk5 Golf Estate. I'm planning to lift it and wondered if you could make a video about how to find cross compatible springs from other vehicles and how to know how much height the vehicle gains from them. How do you tell what stiffness and size your springs are?

I had a kess remap on my 150hp tdi. Not sure of what the hp is now but im told it should be at least 180 to 190hp. It has made a noticeable difference 0 to 60 and lift at higher speeds for overtaking. Im wondering does my DSG gearbox give the tuning an advantage or not ?

I have just bought a citroen 2012 Ds3 E-hdi 1.6 litre diesel turbo, and been thinking of getting it remapped, would I gain much power from it, and would it mess up with all the sensors and light up on the dash board? Cheers

I have a 2015 A3 2.0 TDI sportback that I've mapped from 150hp to 215hp and about 445Nm. Only mapping, no extra parts. Is there anything else I could do to get some more power and still keep the car in a safe zone? It's a manual gear box. Also do you know the safe rev ranges for the gears? 😊
