Sage advice at about I signed up for a govt 5 day trail bike course on DR-Z400s as part of my job, and as a road rider of 30 years exp, I swaggered in the first massively humbled, almost last, the only thing I topped was the low speed riding test on day 2... over logs, up vertical climbs, non aligned wheel tracks etc.... on the rocks, steep hill climbs and rough dirt roads, they left me for dead, I'd catch up, they'd already finished smoko so I had about 30 seconds to have a drink and away we went. I did get thru, fingernail over the line stuff, points for effort kind of thing. Lesson was, road experience is very much NOT dirt, go in easy and build skills. Sometimes you dont know as much as you think you do : )

I think rule 3 used to be taught in primary school, but evidently I must be mistaken. Unless they removed such a lesson from curriculums around the world.
