Fujifilm X-T3 vs X-T4 - Do you need IBIS?

In this video I go over all the key differences between the Fujifilm X-T3 and the Fujifilm X-T4. I also test the IBIS vs non IBIS performance on the Fujinon 18-55mm, Fujinon 16-80mm, Fujinon 10-24mm, Fujinon 55-200mm, Fujinon 90mm f2, Fujinon 23mm f2, Fujinon 35mm f2, and Fujinon 50mm f2.

Some of the photos in this video are attributed to the following artists. I am grateful to them for making their work available to creators like myself.

IBIS is also useful for lowlight photos with static subjects - street scenes at night, shooting in woodlands, etc.

Three years have gone by and this video is still so relevant. Thank you so much for the depth of your analysis and ammount of work put into it. I would like to hear a bit more on the impact of IBIS on low light photography as I really love night street photography. I currently own a X-E2 and am suffering to choose between X-T3 or X-T4. Not sure if going from X-E2 to X-T3 would be a big jump in quality for low light. I am not interested at all in video, for that my smartphone is enough. Thoughts?

Ive been with the xt3, xt4 dilema for a while and Man, this is, by far, the most helpful video I've seen. Thanks a lot.

Great, very comprehensive testing and analysis!
I used to own a Sony a6300. I loved its 4K24 image quality, but handheld shooting without microjitters was so difficult. With a heavy rig it was ok, but looked so silly for that small camera!
Last year I bought the X-T4 and I love it! It is great for hybrid shooting and run&gun filmmaking. Still, I would say that the most challenging way of shooting is handheld with swaying motion. The IBIS tries too hard to resist that motion and results in stuttering. I wish those IBIS parameters could be changed.

Thanks. I appreciated your work and info, but please think about getting rid of the music background... it is very distracting/annoying, and tempted me to skip your video. (constructive criticism)

Well… IBIS also makes a difference for stills when you have a slow shutter speed. Useful for low light situation, but not only. I like to go to 1/8s or even 1/6s for street photography sometimes, having every building clear and people/bikes/cars blurred… Hard to do without IBIS if you don’t have a tripod :/

The LCD on the X-T4 sports 1.62m dots, as opposed to 1.04m dots on the X-T3 LCD. When you consider how much one has to use the LCD, whether to shoot photos, reviewing photos taken, or scrolling through the menus, the higher resolution is nicer.

Interesting. I use the XT3 mainly on the RS3 Gimbal... and it gives me a fantastic steady motion picture.

I went with the X-S10. It lacks the new battery but does have pretty good IBIS.

Great video, I love my X-T3s and got an X-S10 for ibis and having fun. FYI the X-T3 can save video settings & keep them separate if you go to the settings

Nice video. Quick correction though, you absolutely can save video settings on the XT3. It's called movie setting or silent video I believe. Other than that, your info was on point and very helpful. Thanks

You make me wanna double think over the XT4 to XH1!

You don’t really need IBIS but it does help. I sold both my XT3s for XT4s and the best thing is the Batteries and better quieter shutter. Ibis is just another safety net to help the upcoming photographers get sharper images, the gap is closing

I haven't used the XT3 but the XT4 with IBIS is solid. I shoot all handheld and I don't notice any microjitters. I think for those who already have the XT3, you probably don't need to make the jump to the XT4 if you have a lens with OIS. Very thorough video comparison. I liked your video and subscribed to your channel!

Good review! BTW, doesnt the XT3 have the Movie Optimized Mode which helps save the settings when switching from photo to video? Thanks!

As a still photographer, I notice low light is a problem with prime lens on my XT-20 (which is basically the same sensor as the XT-3). The OIS XF-18-55 lets me do urban night photography that isn't blurred. I do wonder how the X-T4's IBIS with a prime zoom compares to low light still photography.

I will switch from X-t3 to X-t5 for sure just for IBIS.

I have a X-T3 and a gimbal, but i never use it because its so cumbersome. I often do photos and video of the same scenes, so this is rather complicated with a gimbal.
