Racism in the workplace is a major problem in the United States. According to Glassdoor, 42% of employees in the US have reported having seen or experienced racism while on the job. While employers are ramping up their D&I strategies, many people believe that non-inclusive company cultures continue to be major hindrances to workplace equity.

This Race Bridge conversation will explore personal stories of workplace racism. We’ll talk to Milwaukeeans who have seen or experienced racial prejudice at the hands of their co-workers and bosses. We’ll start to get to the root of how racism shows up at work through comments, lack of opportunities, exclusion, and stereotyping. And we’ll find out, first hand, how this othering effects people as individuals and hinders workplaces as a whole.

This Race Bridge is an opportunity to hear personal stories and examples of how racism take root at work. The intention of this conversation is to raise awareness about the behaviors and systems that are sending people the message that they don’t belong – better positioning us to call-out and counteract them.
