The Nemours electronic health record (EHR) is a secure, online environment that connects all phases of care for your child—inpatient, outpatient, at home, and at the referring physician's office.

Only 1.1 % of hospitals in the country have achieved the level of advancement and distinction of Nemours One, our electronic health record system. Sharing patient information data electronically helps us continuously improve the health of children in our care and beyond.
With our advanced EHR system we can:
• track outcomes and results to improve the safety of care
• partner more closely with families and patients
• enhance research efforts and implement better treatments

The traditional medical record was a single folder that held all of the documents relevant to a particular doctor's care of a patient. However, only one person could have access to that chart at one time. The information in our electronic health record can be used by any health professional trying to make decisions for the best interest of your child, anywhere in Nemours. Our EHR also allows parents and primary care providers to act fully as partners in a child's care.

In 2010, Nemours earned the Nicholas E. Davies Award from the Health Information Management System Society (HIMSS), given for innovation in electronic health record systems. Nemours also recently achieved HIMSS Stage 7 at Nemours/ Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children, a distinction held by only 59 hospitals out of more than 6000 hospitals in the United States, and indicating a virtually paperless environment.
Advancing our electronic health record capabilities has directly impacted our patient care by:
• eliminating prescription error rates throughout our system
• allowed us to track Body Mass Index for all patients to chart our obesity initiatives
• improving communication among our clinicians, our referring physicians and patients and families
