Bruce, thanks for sharing – admire your view on personal finances, and feel the same. It's hard to go from stashing pennies to considering such a big, unknown change... but for all the reasons you stated and more, the risks of doing nothing feel greater. This is amazing! I love your outlook on life, and you have your priorities on straight! My wife and I have been trying to do this for the last 4 years, but we're not quite as brave as you guys. Originally, we were going to do the Digital Nomad Visa in Spain, but my wife's employer denied us, after initially saying yes. We're exploring other options now. Perhaps the non lucrative visa is the way to go. We'll see. Good luck on your adventures. Looking forward to keeping up with your journey.

Also, remember, the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Being away from the US for 10 years has ironically increased my appreciation of love for the place, more than I have ever had.

Great video. My family and I made the same decision back in 2016. So we decided to move from Australia to Germany. It wasnt easy I must say, and finding work was equally as hard (generally language barriers), but I pushed through and now am very comfortable. Have a very flexible job working from home and work-life balance is unmatched. We take advantage of being in Europe to travel a lot (France, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland...etc) but at the end of the day we feel like we dont actually belong in any one place and that is ok with us. Hey Bruce! I love your attitude and I hope you're going to succeed!

I don't know if you already selected a place. If you're still searching or if you're going to change plans, I would propose to look at the Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg region. It's ridiculously beautiful, people are friendly, there are good and very varied job opportunities. It's definitely not a low cost area, but there are constellations where this does not matter (better paying jobs in one country, lower living expenses in a village across the border, etc.). It's a paradise for children, food is marvelous, it's an island of sanity.

Until you find a way to make a living, you will enjoy time off there.

Of all places I lived in, this is the one I keep wanting to go back to. I'm happy where I live now, but just talking about this place makes me want to move ;-)
