“The operation was extremely well-prepared from a military point of view.”

Russia was “surprised” by the Kursk incursion, demonstrating that it was “not prepared” for an aggressive Ukrainian operation, says Ukrainian MP Andrii Osadchuk.

If Russia wants a negotiated settlement, get Putin out of power, it's just that simple. He's the obstacle to peace ✌️.

Well with interest rates at 18%, many of those people would have had to leave their houses soon anyway.

No wonder! ru has been managing its "war games" with their Ex-Soviet States the same way since the 1960's!; all based on making sure that "ru wins". The result? They are performing Air/Naval and Ground choreographies. Nothing more.
At the same time, NATO countries have been challenging each other in war games non-stop.
Question: How many times have you heard that the US lost against the UK or France or etc in a war game? Many times. It's for learning purposes benefiting all.
How many times have you heard that ru lost against a CSTO member?
Result for the ru MoD? A complete lack of fast response on the ground in 2024.

.Russia has no remaining troops on the border with Finland and Estonia. NATO should be piling troops up on the border, make a big show of it, and force Russia to keep troops back there. Even Japan could do the same thing on the east coast of Russia. Russia has been able to make gains in the Donbas mainly because they haven't had to protect their own borders

I was checking old maps, and Kursk was part of Ukraine.
Research is fun.

Until recently Russia was grinding forward in Ukraine's territory. Not much, but constantly. Now they have to start grinding to get their own territory back, and if they are as (in-)efficient in that as they are in Ukrainian territory, this might take a while. Not to mention, that the tactics of bombing everything into rubble might not be such a great idea in areas where your own population lives, lived, or would want to return to. So, the more territory Ukraine occupies now, the less resources Russia will have to make gains in southern Ukraine because they are needed for the "get our stuff back".

Apart of that, in general attacking there where your enemies defenses are weak and he does not expect it, makes a lot of sense.

And the other thing is, now Russia has to spend troops to protect all of it's border with Ukraine, so far that was asymmetric that Ukraine protected all, but Russia only the front lines in Ukraine.

Well done, Ukraine!
