The principle of fore and aft tracking has been used to track conveyor belts for many years. The best way to demonstrate this is to put a round pencil (or something similar) on a flat surface (such as a table) place a ruler on top of it at 90 degrees, place your hand flat on top of the ruler and move it backwards and forwards, it will follow the same line, now move the ruler to 89 degrees, it will now track to one side, now move the ruler to 91 degrees it will move to the other side. This demonstrates the principle involved in this concept
