2024 reading journal set up

Not me only now seeing I misspelled “anticipated reads.”

I was so excited to finally set up a reading journal for the new year. I’ve had book journals in the past but they’ve always been more functional and had less deco. I went for the favored bullet journal style so I hope I enjoy it.

I bought a spiral bound lined paper journal to record my 2024 Reading Plans by Genre with books from my shelves, no dates assigned. As I am reading some bigger books next year, I am writing mini summaries to explain the characters and their relationship to each other. This is to improve my reading retention, helps me think about what I read, especially if there is a book sequel, I can quickly read these book synopses to get ready for the next book. I think Goodreads keeps track what I read by month and year and how many books I have read each year, number of pages read each year, etc. I will always low ball the number of books I plan to read with Goodreads and with this reading journal which will allow me to add more books if I choose.

I've just got a plain lined composition book with a table of contents, but this was inspiring. Lots of ideas for plans and grouping ideas.

I don’t really have a reading bujo but I am visually tracking my books via an Insta page I made specifically for it. I don’t really want to turn it into anything but I thought a nice little photo with a rating and a little thought about it would be fun to look back on. I really love the Bujo’s I’ve stumbled upon in my recommended (like this one) and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone fill theirs in!

I'm wondering when all this scrapbook style reading journaling started. I used to just read back in the stone age, no list. Then i would keep a list in a notebook. Then Goodreads (which I like a lot). I started also doing the handwritten journal this year but my writing is so bad I keep the entries to a list by month, copied from my Goodreads list. Not sure why I'm even doing this but it's easy enough. 😂
