Bird Cage Theatre opened December 26, 1881. In the main hall is a 15' by 15' stage for performers. The stage was lit by a row of gas jets along the front. There were 14 rooms total spread between two balconies on each side of the main hall. These rooms had drapes that could be drawn closed while patrons were being entertained by prostitutes. In between acts dancing girls in short skirts would serve drinks and offer sex. Beer was $.50 in the main hall and $1.00 in the rooms. Mademoiselle De Granville(Alma Hayes) was known as "Female Hercules" and the woman with the iron jaw. She was one of the first acts at the Bird Cage Theatre where she performed feats of strength and picked up heavy objects with her teeth. "The Flying Nymph"(Lizette) flew from one side of the theatre to the other on a rope. Another act "The Human Fly" consisted of women wearing theatrical tights and brief costumes in which they would walk across the ceiling upside down. This lasted until a clamp supporting the performers failed and she fell to her death. In the basement held a poker room which had the longest running poker game in history. The poker tables ran 24 hours a day 365 days a year and lasted eight years five months and three days. It is believed that $10,000,000 changed hands during this marathon game. The house retained 10 percent. Doc Holliday, Bat Masterson, Diamond Jim Brady, George Hearst, and Adolphus Busch of the Busch Brewery were some of the participants. There were two more ornate and expensive bordello rooms with more expensive escorts in the basement. This was where Wyatt Earp and Josephine Sarah Marcus met and began their relationship. Josephine was a performer as well as an escort in the bordello room. She bacame his third wife and they were together for 47 years. This theatre is said to be haunted. It also holds the famous hearse that carried all but six people to Boothill Graveyard. There are more than 120 bullet holes throughout the theatre. This theatre was featured by my very close friends Zak Bagans and his crew on Ghost Adventures in 2009 and 2015 LOL!!!

Wow, they really changed it sense we went there in 2003. More stuff, items, than before and the down stairs was set up like it would have been back when it was running the bordello/bar.. I liked it better set up like that then now. Enjoyed visiting this town. I felt like I was back in time. The grave yard was awesome as well..

There's a bunch of ghosts in there. Not to scare anyone. It's just the truth. They can't harm you tho.

This whole place is a joke. While historically very cool, almost every single one of those “informational” cards attached to an item or room are complete lies. The most obvious one is the Russian Bill room one. It says he rented that room every night for 2 yrs straight. Yeah ok, Russian bill died in 1881. The theatre didn’t even open officially until December 26 1881, and he died in another town. Meaning he wasn’t there in tombstone for two years straight. Also, the grand piano. The sign says its sat on that spot since the day the theatre opened. Uhhhh nope. There is a picture of when the theatre was re-opened I’m 1934 and it is completely empty. Including the piano.

I want to visit this one day. Harder when you live in the UK and broke. One day. I have to. I'm developing a love for the old west (interested when younger but not so much). It was a horrible but interesting time though. I prefer realism not romanticised crap.

Shame some of the facts are fake. Will have to read up on the real info.

Thanks for the video.
