For Those About To Rock We Salute You was released in 1981. It has largely been a forgotten album in the AC/DC discography. The main reason is because it was overshadowed by Back In Black which was released only a year before. Back in Black went on to become one of the largest selling albums of all time. FTATRWSY is also the final record in the trilogy of albums to be produced by Robert "Mutt" Lange. The other two are Highway to Hell (1979) and Back in Black (1980). The band is very public in saying that they felt the direction of this album was too polished and for the rest of the 80's recordings, the band decided to go for a very raw self produced sound.
FTATRWSY has always been my favourite AC/DC album. The older I get, the more I realize this is a very contrarian opinion. The one thing I can confidently say about this record is that it is the most Sinister and Evil sounding AC/DC album in the discography and arguably the heaviest. It is also the most harmonically inventive and creative album IMO. If you haven't listened to this album in its entirety, go check it out.
