Spot on! No one ever mentions the spare key! I think first aid kit and water are also must haves for me on every trip, big or small

someone mentioned online the other day they have their spare key taped behind the padding inside their helmet, good idea i think.

Key and code thing for the newer bikes could come in handy for sure.
The garmin in reach is a great asset. 5 bucks a week, can't go wrong.

Some good advice!
I’ve tried to minimise my tool kit as much as possible in weight and package size. I’ve managed to compile relevant spanners and allen keys, 2 tyre irons with ring spanner ends (ie. one 19mm and another 24mm to fit front and rear axel nuts respectively), standard 2mm front and rear tubes (less weight than heavy duty 3-4mm tubes), hand pump, tube patch kit, bead buddy and motion pro bead breaker tyre irons, flip around screwdriver plus a few other things you mentioned. Should be able to fix/tighten most components.
In any case, enjoying your adventures especially the one on Frazer. Thanks for posting great ideas for adventure riding. Regards, Craig

100% I ALWAYS have a spare key attached to the zipper on my pants. Also, If your key gets stuck in the lock and won't turn properly, loosen the oil plug, or in my case where the oil filter is, and let some oil drip out onto the key or put some in the lock, it will then turn properly in the lock. Works a treat. I found out today that sole traders and people who run small businesses are eligible to $1000 of safety equipment from the government, NSW only maybe I can't remember, but it just so happens that EPIRB's are part of it, so I'm going to get myself one! 🤩

Three very important things to have. I’ve also got a bundle of zip ties in my kit as well. 9 times out of 10 a issue can be solved with ductape and zip ties

A mate lost the key to his KTM on a recent trip in Tassie (we're Sydney based). They were travelling with a 4wd and trailer who carted his bike for the rest of the Tas trip and back home. Spare fob was sitting in a drawer back in Sydney.

Satphone goes anytime I know there isn't coverage..which is most of the time. Expensive plans, heavy, bulky but bought 20 odd years ago for 4wd trips. If I was to buy now for the bike only what you have is perfect, probably the best option currently. Since I started riding my second key lives on me on every ride, it's common sense...isn't it.👍
