Chris Smith is a really valuable part of this defense.

3:49 INSANE block destruction by Jalen Carter. Collapsing the Right Tackle with brute force and leaping to tackle the ball carrier. The run went for a first down, but damn what a play

Oregon’s offense was pretty awful as a whole, but the center, #78 Forsyth, was excellent. Other than this bad rep @ 10:30, he was really clean, especially in pass pro, including when facing the absolute monster that is Jalen Carter.

The first thing is, I love the size and strength. I know a lot of teams like that smaller, quicker pivot man — someone like Linderbaum being the prototype there — but me personally, at the center position, I just want a guy who’s athletic enough to do all the movement stuff — whether it’s outside zone or pulling on gap scheme stuff, as well as having quick enough feet to handle twitchier 3 techs in pass pro — but who’s really got the ability to move people off the line of scrimmage. Forsyth has that. There’s pop in his punch and he has exceptional grip strength. But he’s also got that functional core strength that is so key to remaining balanced and being able to sustain blocks against powerful guys.

Is he the athlete that say, an Oluwatimi, or even a Wypler is? Probably not. But I think he moves well enough do be able to do everything required in the pro game. He won’t wow you when he’s moving laterally but he can do it, and when asked to go more or less straight forward quickly to the second level he has no issues erasing guys like Dumas-Johnson.

And then you have the intangibles like leadership and toughness, where he is, again, exceptional. I know he wasn’t able to stay out there for Ducks’ final drive against Washington, but if you watch that game, the fact that he was able to be out there as long as he was showed a ton of grit and character, as he was clearly not right.

I think anyone slagging him for the level of competition — PAC 12 not having nearly as many high level interior d lineman — should turn on this game against that loaded Dawgs front.

I really liked Fortner last year and Forsyth reminds me a bit of him.

Georgia defense gang tackles. Oregon's defense gets out of the way when someone is wrapped up. That needs to change

After seeing everyone play week 1 it's clear uga is the best and deepest team in college. How you defend those tight ends when they're all on the field at the same time seems impossible.

Once smael mondon start playing faster this defense will take another step i thought nakobe dean was most def missed alot of there yardage were on wheel route type plays...

Oregon did a good job blocking UGA’s defensive line. Didn’t give up any sacks, and Oregon had some big runs right up the middle. UGA has to fix that.

Georgia linebackers and dlineman needs to create more pressure and fill the lanes better. They are young on. That side so will be some growing pains. Chris smith was all over the place tho

Clearly the best defense in college football

Jalen carter gets held so much it’s ridiculous .. 2:30 is a perfect example on how they blocked him on every play

Told everyone if you expecting Georgia to take a major step back you are sadly mistaking. Their program is at Alabama’s level now. The only other one that truly is. They are going to be a championship contending team year in and year out. Get used to it.

Poor Bo Nix...thought he was moving on to greener(literally) pastures with the University of Nike...only to suffer his WORST loss to Georgia.
