Absolutely loved John Motson - deeply knowledgeable, passionate and a bit quirky at times but that's often how the greats roll. Miss you, John, from Edinburgh.

His voice was very familiar voice in our house...my dad was a huge football fan back in the day and even though I didn't always watch that voice was a big part of my childhood and teenage years...felt sad when I heard this news...condolences to his family and friends...RIP John....

I'm so sad at this news. I feel as though I grew up listening to him. An absolute legend. The voice of football. RIP.

"Here are John Motson, and Andy Gray."
He lives on in the PS1 and 2 FIFA games.

Anyone born after 2000 will never know how lucky we were to have had such a dedicated brilliant footballer and sports commentator, he was part of the great 70, 80 and 90 football years and definitely the best. I'll not mention the rubbish today.

Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, Motson was the voice of football. Definitely up there with Kenneth Wolstenholme and Hugh Johns.
