In our last episode we wondered what would be President Claudia Sheinbaum’s first crisis, well we didn’t have to wait long. In her first week, the newly inaugurated Mexican president has had to face security challenges, the impact of hurricanes, and a coup plot by the Supreme Court of Justice. In the latest episode of the Soberanía podcast co-hosts José Luis Granados Ceja and Kurt Hackbarth discuss Sheinbaum’s efforts to tackle the many challenges facing Mexico. Plus we introduce a new segment: Good News from Mexico. As always, bring you the Losers and Haters, this week we pick on a writer from the pro-billionaire American Institute for Economic Research.

Man, as an first gen American I do wish my dad wouldn’t have left Mexico, but I understand where he is coming from. He came to escape poverty. Growing up in the imperial core I part of me does wish to go back, but my life is already rooted here. I’m glad to hear what’s going on in Mexico thru a left lens perspective. Thank you guys.

Your podcasts come as a breath of fresh air for me when I was looking for new news outlets since our options were shrinking in MX. Thanks!

Fabulous discussion! Thank you so much! Those 1 1/2 hour, daily presidential press conferences tell me a whole lot about democracy in Mexico - maybe all I or anybody needs to know.

Been watching your channel for a few months it’s amazing to watch it start to grow. Gonna have to start interacting more to increase its traction. Loved this episode wish you touched more on the hurricane since it was a cat 5 almost making landfall was super worried about my brothers and sisters in Mexico since US news hasn’t mentioned it at all. Super excited for the new segment of good news really gives some great starting point to talk about Mexico with people!

Unfortunately, the kind of "reporting" you cite in "losers & haters" segment is by far too prevalent in U$a such that people by & large believe it. It's an uphill challenge to get any other more positive & realistic view across. Kudos to your good news about Mexico segment. A great podcast as usual, thank you.

Wow, another great episode. I had a lot to do today, and didn't get a chance to watch Soberanía. But I decided to take a quick look and catch the rest of the program tomorrow, but I couldn't rip my eyes away! Now I'm going to be a bit sleep-deprived, but for a good cause. A court ruling a constitution unconstitutional? It's hard for me to wrap my head around that. And it's great to hear that the new airport won an award. The airport on the lake bed would have been a disaster. And the propaganda piece from the "American Institute for Economic Research" was just repellent. Did you notice the sidebar around 57:00? "Spreading Democracy May Not Be in the United States' Best Interest"? Well, we're not very good at it. Remember Operation Condor? As for the headline urging Brazil to cut down the Amazon, that was simply repugnant. I have no doubt that Sheinbaum is going to run circles around the silly maneuverings of Norma Piña. And I don't think Piña going to get much backing from the U.S. in the short time she has left in her position.

Hey muchachos - Your channel needs more audience. Your work is way too important and you do a good job. Please attempt to colab con Vicente Serrano de Sin Censura. If he is willing to do it, you would gain a lot of followers who at comfortable switching from Spanish to English. Keep it up.

This coup attempt needs to be thwarted, why not send the military and try these judges under military law? After all the generals swear fealty to the constitution, their utmost purpouse is to uphold the constitution, and the judicial reform is now part of the constitution, so they need to be tried on the military court.

I wanted to ask you!! If it would be possible to create a Mexican American coalition that could lead us and unite our voices, votes and matters, things need to change for the almost 40 million Mexican Americans that need the urgent respect that is lost, please respond me, I know that we don’t have a voice, right now.

If the Mexico vs gun manufacturers lawsuit is tossed before a conclusion it may be because of the forum shopping.

Boston?
Why not Berkeley? Boston is Berkeley without the looney tunes reputation.

Should have picked a less obvious choice.
