I'm listening to them right now! The sound is annoying but to know that we are alive for their 221 year for both to emerge is amazing to me! I was able to get a picture of one (not just the shell) as well! Love it

I'm in Alabama the noise is terrible...I see them sticking to my power pole..they are dead and soon will fall to the ground..the sound I hear is like an open can of paint spray..

Can’t wait!!! I’m traveling to see Brood XIX probably in Tennessee. That’s the state they’re the most dense in I think. The map shown in this video is not accurate tho. They’re not gonna be everywhere in each state… And Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and some other states in the map are not going to have them. But anyway… I’ve never seen a 13 year brood! I‘be traveled to see 17 year broods all over the last 8 years. I’ve been waiting for this specific Brood for many years. 13 year cicada species are a little bit different.

Every day there’s more and more flying in my yard and I don’t even wanna go out on my deck. I’m in my bedroom and I can hear them singing in the trees.😊 I just don’t want them landing on me or getting in my hair. Every day there’s more and more flying in my yard and my trees are covered big strong trees, not little ones.

Very good….Now let’s find a way to turn them into food products…..Ice cream filler, wheat products, cereal, anything which needs protein in it.😋

I lived through a grasshopper plague in Colorado in the 80s. My son and I were leaving the house to get to the car and one jumped on him and took a chunk out of his cheek. He's in his 50s today and still bears the scar. They will bite.

I never even hear one here in Oregon. They're kind of cool. Lay down your phones and play with them.

Uh, not harmful to humans? Try hitting a single cicada while on a motorcycle at 60 mph. It’s like a major league fastball to the face or chest. Now, with the emergence imagine 10 of them hitting you at the same time. Holy ouch. Just went through this in Ohio a couple, e years back. Now I live in Illinois.
